Company Background:
Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (OKI) is a Japanese information and telecommunications equipment manufacturer that provides systems and solutions supporting social infrastructure, including ATMs, air traffic control systems, disaster prevention radio systems and other mission-critical technologies.
Founded in 1881, Oki Electric Industry Company has a long history, including the development of Japan’s first telephone. Today, under the key message of “Delivering OK! to your life,” the company provides essential systems for social infrastructure, including the Electric Toll Collection communication systems, air traffic control, ATMs and disaster prevention radio systems.
HR DX (Digital Transformation) Promotion Team member Mr. Kodai says, “The real-time and continuous visualization of information was insufficient, and aggregation tasks relied heavily on manual processes. Additionally, reports were created individually by each person in charge, which hindered horizontal deployment.” To address these challenges, leveraging Kodai’s prior experience with Alteryx, the decision was made to implement Alteryx in the winter of 2024.
The company advanced its initiatives centered around Alteryx utilization measures, focusing on five pillars: “reporting standardization,” “automated data calculation and integration,” “stable data visualization infrastructure,” “automation of operations” and “introduction of user-friendly general-purpose tools.”
The company’s core HR system comprises a payroll calculation system (managing attribute data such as attendance and evaluations), a talent management system (interviews, goals, employment history, etc.) and a proprietary system (salary and finance data for group companies). These data were aggregated and processed using Alteryx, and dashboards were created with BI tools.
The implementation steps included establishing the DX Promotion Team in April 2024 and adopting an on-premises version of the BI tool. Following the construction of a data integration platform, Alteryx Designer was introduced in December 2024, and the decision to adopt Alteryx Server was made in June 2025.
In the initial phase of constructing the data integration platform, data processing was performed using the ETL tool bundled with the BI tool and shared via a file server. By replacing it with Alteryx and launching a site, we achieved advanced processing and enhanced performance.

With the implementation of Alteryx, automatic data cleansing is conducted overnight, enhancing the performance of BI tools that were previously slow due to pre-calculation. A simple HTML-generated dashboard is also available on the Company Portal, allowing employees to execute some reporting tasks directly on the Alteryx Server. Overall usability has been improved with attention to operability and versatility.
“In the HR world, even with a lot of unstructured data, the processing module can be leveraged to enhance operations, and the serverization of Alteryx allows for deployment without user number limitations,” says Kodai.
As a prototype utilizing Alteryx Server, an app was developed to construct a predictive model using machine learning based on attribute and evaluation information during talent recruitment, displaying the potential for success based on characteristics such as new graduates or career hires. In terms of design, the introduction of Alteryx Server has improved maintainability.
In introducing Alteryx, the following points were also considered: ensuring ease of use regardless of IT literacy, internal promotion through email newsletters, highlighting it as “Powered by Alteryx” and making advance preparations in terms of environment alongside efforts to stay within budget.
“During the implementation phase, we consciously avoided aiming for a perfect score. In designing workflows, planning operations and considering operational aspects, we believe it is crucial to adopt a flexible approach, targeting a completion level of ‘around 80 points’ rather than consistently striving for 100 points,” said Kodai.
“This perspective is based on the notion that, as circumstances and requirements continuously evolve, the initially anticipated 100-point standard may become irrelevant in actual operations,” adds Kodai. “Therefore, we feel that making a decision to advance with a certain degree of completion at the right time, rather than excessively seeking perfection, ultimately leads to smoother operations. Additionally, to reduce BI tool license costs, we are continuously implementing cost-saving measures, such as sharing data extensively on our internal site.”
A reflection from the construction phase was the underestimation of server processing load, and enhancing resource allocation and load testing is a future challenge. Additionally, there are plans to continue utilizing Alteryx and to build a system to prevent dependency on individuals. Specifically, there are plans to establish a development and consulting framework in collaboration with KYOCERA Mirai Envision, the company’s development partner.
We aim to establish Alteryx not merely as a means of business improvement, but as a tool to fully harness the appeal and capabilities of Oki Electric staff. To achieve this, we intend to continue building our framework and embracing challenges, including leveraging business improvements and the AI analysis assistant Alteryx Copilot.
